OCCUPY RAW - Reclaim Your Right to Self Heal!

Scott Mathias - Wednesday, October 26, 2011
By Scott Mathias Integrative Health Coach and Creator of iLifeFoods.com

Right now is the time to ‘Occupy’ a space of personal or group sovereignty.

Millions of people around the world are activating their inner desire to reclaim their rights as human beings to be fairly and justly treated; their rights to a house and food without being prey to the whims of the greedy corporate money lenders.

The Occupy Wall Street movement is leading the vanguard in the western world just as the Summer of Egypt led it in the eastern world. It’s all about a lack of Governmental and corporate love and caring for the rights of the people. For too long rights have been trodden under the feet of beauracratic administration – red tape in the guise of ‘threat to national security’ – ‘we know what’s good for you’ adage and we will choose what you eat, what we inject into your body and whether you are entitled to have a roof over your head and food in your belly.

The same applies to the totally outmoded medical-pharmaceutical model which most people know and understand to be broken and driven only by the corporate desires of the medical and pharmaceutical industry to achieve massive and mind boggling profits.

The sickness industry is alive and well and what are you doing about this ?

The only way a change to the old world model of managing sickness to one of promoting health care and awareness will change is if you stand up now and and say NO-MORE!!

Taking charge of your own healing process – becoming your own Doctor – infact becoming your own ‘Phytonutritional Facilitator’, will be the start of a new wave of consciousness to sweep the planet. It always starts with the ‘power of one’ then the 100-monkey effect kicks in – 2-4-6-8 and so on.

Raw is just one way to align your body’s natural bio-energetic balance. Plant food contains the resonating patterns which are 1000% aligned with your DNA. Science is even showing us that the levels of phytoenergy in plant foods far exceeds anything the eyes can see but meets the needs, and beyond, of the body’s own bio-cognitive resonance.

Sometime ago I took myself to my personal vision of being whole, complete and balanced. I own this vision, even to this moment, by witnessing my mind and listening more intently to my body. You are invited to do the same.

Vegetarianism – Veganism and now Raw Food was the progression. I can feel when my body is fed with LIVE food. It dances to a tune which it hadn’t heard for lifetimes!! Now I use my heart and mind to reconnect with my body to create a symphony of healing and supportive energies.

I Am my own healer. I know my body more than and better than any other person, so therefore I am able to heed its calls for healing food and so can you!!

Learn to LOVE RAW. I know within myself I actually never ever needed to eat the flesh of another animal, be forced to drink the milk of a cow which has been artificially forced to lactate almost 12 months of the year or eat the seeds of the wheat plant which contain a deadly gluten which most digestive systems are unable to break down.

Its time to Occupy Raw and Reclaim your right to self-heal

Would you like a sense of Nutritional Freedom with RAW Food ?

Scott Mathias - Thursday, September 29, 2011

Scott Mathias is Integrative Health Coach and Creator of the iLifeFoods.com range of SuperCellFoods

Right now I'm feeling a sense of freedom and liberation around the changes taking place with my diet. At the same time I am also coming understand how powerful religious, political, social and cultural forces are in determining what we should eat.

I was bought up in New Zealand and post war was virtually force-fed dairy products in order to support the emerging dairy industry there. So too bread and wheat products to help get the South Island wheat industry up and running after WWII .As a consequence I experienced what I now look back on as horrible digestive issues which I know impacted on my ability to feel good. The right nutritional information wasn't getting through to my cellular system.

Now, quite some years later I might add, I am over the need to eat what is on offer via the supermarket or what is shown on TV or in the newspapers. I eat what I know my body loves and enjoys.

I am now enjoying pampering myself and see creating food as part of my daily meditation where I can offer thanks to the earth for all she has done and continues to do for me

I want to show you some of what I have eaten in the last 24hrs - each morning anyway I start my day with a fruit/vege smoothie which includes some of the iLifeFoods dried VegeShot or VegeShot Smoothie Booster. I love little raw treats more and more. What I did the other night was an avocado creams with garden herbs et al on top of cucumber slices!!!. I like something special too as my main course - a Zuccipasta - raw zucchini pasta with a RAW tomato sauce with the same ingredients I used when I used to prepare a cooked tomato sauce. Finally I like to do a RAW sweet which is really quite different to a cooked sweet - this time a new twist on an oldie but a goodie - Coconut Kefir with cacao powder and strawberries topped off with coconut palm  sugar - makes the old chocolate mousse look a tad tired doesn't it ?

Tropical Fruit Smoothie           Avocado cream on sweet cucumber               Zuccipasta with RAW tomato sauce

Tropical Fruit Smoothie : Blend a frozen banana with mango, paw paw (papaya) , pineapple, 1 sachet of VegeShot Smoothie Boost Serve garnished with a twist of kale.

Avocado Cream served on Sweet Lebanese  Cucumber : 2 creamy avocados into a blender with the juice of a lime, handful of garden herbs -basil, majoram - pinch of sea salt . Blend and serve on slithers of cucumber and topped with a baby grape tomato and drizzle with macadamia oil and add a grind of pepper.

Zuccipasta with RAW Tomato Sauce: Firstly blend your sauce - 4 largish Roma tomatoes , large pinch of dried Italian herbs, glove of garlic, touch of red onion, fresh basil, 1 small red chilli, pinch of seasalt and ground pepper and small sprinkle of coconut palm sugar. Blend together until smooth and creamy. Set aside. take two largish zucchini or courgette and using a small Gefu Spirelli Spiral Cutter. This is a great little device into which you slide your courgette or zucchini or cucumber..it will also do a sweet potato if you clean and prepare it to fit neatly into the end.

I have some of these great little hand operated beauties coming so if you want to put your name down for one then  just email me

I like to spend a moment giving some thought to how I can introduce a safe sweet finishing touch to my meals. Sometimes its dried fruit based and sometimes its something just a wee bit special - such as a beauty I created the other night .

Coconut Kefir with cacao powder and strawberries and topped with a sprinkle of coconut palm  sugar. Put 6 strawberries in the blender along with several good dollops of the creamy kefir mixture, add a teaspoon of raw cacao powder and blend together until a smoothy creamy consistency. It turned out sensationally when served in a small liqueur glass and by the way you might care to add a drop or two of your fav liqueur into the mix to give it an added zing  if you wish.

So what is Coconut Kefir I hear you ask ? Well its two 600ml cans of Organic coconut cream into an airtight jar into which you add one 'Natures Own' Kefir starter sachet. Stir it thoroughly and  let it sit on the kitchen bench for a few days until it starts to go nice and sour and then put it into the fridge where it will solidify. This is the best stuff for helping to get new flora back into the tummy AND its not milk based.

Kefir has its origins in the middle east where the culture is added to cows and goats milk to create a form of cultured yogurt which helps in the process of digestion and maintaining stomach flora.

Raw food with a balance of fats, carbs and proteins and has been  a transformational experience for me . I was a vegan for many years but was still taking some light protein from time to time  like fish and chicken. When I dropped flesh of any kind I began to feel even better and more alert. Then when I began to just eat non cooked vegetables I found my energies and general state of body and mind slipped up another notch.

It is very simple to slot one's brain into gear around preparing raw food but for many its a difficult task when all that 'seems' to be on offer is the usual 3-dimensional food of meat and three veg and plenty out of a packet.

I can help you understand more about the RAW approach to life and living and teach you how to prepare the food you see on this page. I offer three day intensives built around my own lifestyle and using an Integrative Nutrition approach. I also offer nation wide - global wide - 3 and 6 month Health and Wellbeing programs and my very popular 4 hour 'RAW in the Kitchen' experiences based from my cottage in Doonan, 10 minutes South of Noosa, about 1.5 hrs north of Brisbane. If you would like more information please email me to find out more information and dates and times for classes. For the longer health programs I offer an initial FREE HEALTH ASSESSMENT. ZUMMY Beetroot and Sweet Potato Zoup for ZIP!!!

Scott Mathias - Friday, June 03, 2011

Here is a recipe from Carolina who lives on the Shinshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. If you are in need of an energy boost or some extra alkalinity from the Beetroot, at the same time some natural occuring sweetness from the Sweet Potato then do have a go at this really easy recipe. All ingredients are available fresh from your local farmers market.

You will need:

1 small white onion diced
3-4 large beetroots (250g)

1 large sweet potato
1-2 tsp cummin seeds
1.25l vegetable stock
2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
3 tbsp sunflower oil
coriander (cilantro) as garnish
sour cream if desired

Preparation:

Gently heat the oil in a large saucepan. Add the onions and sweat until tender (5 mins should do it). Add in the cumin seeds and allow to infuse for a minute.

Meanwhile, chop the beetroot and sweet potato into cubes. Add to the onions and stir briefly.

Add the stock and gently simmer for 15-20 minutes (until the beetroot is soft). Remove from the heat and blend with a hand held blender.

Return to the hob, add the apple cider vinegar and some chopped coriander leaves. Serve immediately.

Now here is what it looks like:

Discover the benefits of Greens, enjoy an
exciting recipe & get a FREE acid/alkaline food chart!

When did you last look at exactly what you were eating and what is motivating you to eat? Are you  being enticed by the colourful advertising by the major supermarkets and perhaps choosing foods that aren’t in your best interest?

There certainly is a lot of ‘food confusion’ existing right now and in our busy life it is probably a good time to stop and ask yourself some questions about food and your lifestyle..

Can you eat out less and prepare more of your own food ?

Can  you be sharing more food in a 'sit-down' environment with friends or family?

Are you eating to support your immediate and long-term health needs?

These may appear basic questions to some of you but for others this 'food confusion' exists.

For instance mainstream media does not promote an awareness around the need to take in a range of 'leafy green vegetables' daily.

The whole idea of raw food, light on protein ie. less heavy red meats, pork and cheeses, along with a mix of healthy grains ie. more wheat free!! is abhorrent to mainstream media because of the need to continue to support an industry and an agenda based food pyramid.

So its time now to step into your own 'food power' and maybe say 'enough is enough'!!!

Here are some great ways to become really empowered around your immediate and long term health.
  • Reach out and ask more questions of your friends and family, read more, sign up for food newsletters or online blogs.
  • When in doubt 'Google' for information which sits right for you.
  • Download the 80/20 Alkaline/Acid Food Chart at the bottom of the page.
  • Also consider spending a couple of hours either a Saturday or Sunday morning shopping at your local farmer's or producer markets

Food Focus: Greens

Leafy greens are some of the easiest and most beneficial vegetables to incorporate into your daily routine. Densely packed with energy and nutrients, they grow upward to the sky, absorbing the sun’s light while producing oxygen. Members of this royal green family include kale, collard greens, Swiss chard, mustard greens, arugula, dandelion greens, broccoli rabe, watercress, beet greens, bok choy, green cabbage, spinach and broccoli. Right now at your local farmers market crinkly leaf green kale is available. In fact you might be interested in knowing that kale is number 2 after garlic in the antioxidant stakes!!!

How do greens benefit our bodies? They are very high in calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, phosphorous and zinc, and are a powerhouse for vitamins A, C, E and K. They are crammed full of fibre, folic acid, chlorophyll and many other micronutrients and phytochemicals. Their green colour is because of chlorophyll levels - sometimes known as liquid sunshine.

In traditional Asian medicine, the color green is related to the liver, emotional stability and creativity. Greens aid in purifying the blood, strengthening the immune system, improving liver, gall bladder and kidney function, fighting depression, clearing congestion, improving circulation and keeping your skin clear and blemish free.

Leafy greens are the vegetables most missing from the average diet, and now you can  learn how to prepare them. Start with the very simple recipe below. Then each time you go to the market, pick up a new green to try. Soon you’ll find your favorite greens and wonder how you ever lived without them.

Exciting Recipe: Shiitake and Kale

Prep Time: 2 minutes

Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients : 300gms shiitake mushrooms, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1-2 cloves crushed garlic, 1 bunch kale, sprinkle of pine nuts, a  pinch of Australian Desert Lake Salt and carrot to garnish.

Directions: 1.  Warm oil in pan on medium heat with minced garlic until aromas of garlic are released, about 2-3 minutes.    2.      Add chopped shiitake mushrooms, stir-fry for 5 minutes.  3.     Add chopped kale, stir-fry for a couple of minutes. 4.     Add a splash of water and pinch of salt to pan, cover and let steam for 4 minutes.

This is a really simple stir fry that is not only quick  to prepare but provides the body with so many benefits.

This is so delicious and so so amazingly healthy and above all - so simple.

Weeds for Food…#1 Amaranth

Scott Mathias - Thursday, March 03, 2011

By Scott Mathias – Integrated Health & RawFood Coach – Creator of the iLifeFood.com range of Enriched SuperCell Foods

I have always maintained that what ever is growing from season to season in your back yard IS FOOD!! It doesn’t have to been on four legs or come out of a building fitted with automatic doors- your back yard is a hive of nutritional industry – all year round.

Several AMAZING food sources grow in mine. Emerging as a weed, I dutifully removed them and dispatched as fast as I could. Then I began to take a closer look. The first is Wild Amaranth which usually turns up early summer or when you don’t plant anything in a patch of garden – so basically anytime, especially if one lives where the weather is a little warmer year round.

Wild Amaranth- High in protein and nutritious

Because it is here to help and assist in our healing process and FEED us, its loves to grow around humans. It will often appear in farmers paddocks after a harvest.    Amaranth owes its origins to the ancient Aztec civilisation in Central and South America. It’s very high in protein and jam packed with nutrients from its seeds and leaves.

Farmers world wide despise Amaranth. It is often called by the rather unfortunate name of ‘Pig Weed’. Whilst it is generally cultivate for its seed it is really not a grain. It is more like a ‘seeding spinach’. Quinoa is probably its nearest relative.

The dark seeds from wild Amaranth can be quite hard and sand like but the greens are totally edible and best used in salads or stir fries. Their lighter well bred and cultivated cousins possess a lighter seed suitable for simmering for both savoury and sweet use, as well as flour in breads. These can be obtained from a health food shop. However with a bit of local research you can find the lighter seed bearing variety-sow them and expect a crop season to season. Just one seed has the ability to produce up to 2 kilograms of usable seeds.

 An amazing weed indeed!!
